Welcome to the start of Term 2 and welcome to our new way of doing our learning.
Each day there will be a check in (a bit like we have in the classroom) where you fill in a Google form to let me know where you are at with your learning. Click in the image below and fill in the questions.

Each day I will be posting Home Learning Activities here. You do not need to complete everything! I am giving you things that you can choose from to help you with your learning. Think about the goals that we set in Term 1 and think about what you know you want to explore.
Here is a suggested 'timetable' of how you could structure your day. Remember, this is a suggestion, not a Must Do!

Google Meet
We will have out first Google Meet today at 10am.
Secret Mission
Just because we are not at school doesn't mean our secret missions stop!
Do something to brighten the day of people walking down your street. Lots of people are going walking or biking to get some fresh air and exercise while still staying in their bubble. Do something to make them smile while they pass your house.
- grab some chalk and write a kind message on the footpath for them to read (if you haven't got your own chalk, you can make some chalk with eggshells or chalk with cornflour)
- make some washable paint to create some sidewalk art (to make the paint mix 1 cup of cornflour with 1 cup of water and add some food colouring - just a bit at a time! - until you get the colour you want). Check out Julian Beaver's sidewalk art for some inspiration.
- make an encouraging sign or poster to hang on your fence
- paint some stones with bright colours or kind messages to leave in your garden.
Get other people in your bubble to help you! And remember to stay in your bubble when you are outside!

Start of Day Activity (S.O.D.A.)
Start your day by sharing your learning goals with someone at home. You can find them by going here and clicking on your Me Bag photo (this will link to your blog).
Daily 5 (Literacy - Reading, Writing and Spelling)
Use the links on our Daily 5 post to help you complete these activities.
Reading to Self
Log in to Read Theory and do 15-20 minutes of reading.
If you do not have access to a device, read from a book of your choice at home.

Reading to a Buddy
Read to someone in your family. Remember, it doesn't need to be a book - you might be helping in the kitchen by reading the recipe to someone as they cook/bake or you might be reading the instructions of how to make something. Sometimes instructions don't have words and you need to 'read' the pictures - that's a great skill to practice too! |
Listening to Reading
Working with Words
Spelling - it's time to check where you are at with your current spelling list. Use the Essential List Spelling Tests on the Literacy page to test your current spelling list. If you are not sure which list you are on please email me. Complete the test and ask someone at home to mark it or take a photo and send it to me and I can mark it.
You will need to create a list of 10 words to be your words to practice for this week.
Those working on List 9 or List 10, choose the words that you know are your sticking points for you from these lists (they are on the Literacy page under the spelling videos) to create your set of 10 words.

Autumn is a beautiful time of year with a mix of colours appearing in nature. Take some time to do a senses survey - sit outside somewhere for 10 minutes. For 2 minutes focus on all the things you can see. For 2 minutes focus on all the things you can hear. For 2 minutes focus on all the things you can smell. Find some different types of leaves that have fallen or collect some acorns or chestnuts - spend 2 minutes focusing on how they feel to touch. Spend 2 minutes thinking about the tastes that come into your mind when you think about autumn. Record your thoughts in some way, you can use this document to help you - you will need them to help with your writing later in the week. |

Finding Fractions and Decimals
People use fractions and decimals everyday - sometimes without even thinking about it!
Throughout your day, record examples of fractions or decimals (eg half, 1/2, 0.5, quarter, 1/4, 0.25, third, 1/3, 0.33 fifth, 1/5, 0.2 etc). These might be things you see or hear.
