Secret Mission
S.O.D.A. - Start Of the Day Activity
This one was a toughy! On each rung of the ladder only one letter changes and once it changes it doesn't change again. Sometimes it is easier to go from the bottom up and sometimes it is easier to go from the top down.
April 22 is National Jellybean Day (who knew there was such a thing!) To celebrate, see if you can solve this jellybean puzzle.
It was great to hear the discussion that the Jelly Bean day challenge created!
It is one where there is more than one way to solve it . . . here are four possible ways - if you have another way, share it with us in the comments at the bottoms of today's post.
? = 14 because blue = 8, orange/yellow = 2, pink/green = 4
? = 14 because blue = 7, orange/yellow = 4, pink/green = 3
? = 15 because blue = 6, orange/yellow = 6, pink/green = 3
? = 16 because blue = 4, orange/yellow = 10, pink/green = 2

Reading to Self
PM Books - I have created accounts for each of you through PM Books and there are sessions set up for you. Your log in details have been sent to your email address so click here and log in. Your reading session will be at the top of the library. You get to your group books by clicking on the image at the top of the book shelf (like the image below). Choose one book to read - you can turn your microphone on and record yourself reading too. It does look like they are books for younger children, there are those but there are books for you too (that's why they are in a group at the top of the library).
OR
Log in to ReadWorks and do 10-15 minutes of reading to self. Click here, enter the class code ES7MWB and your usual password. Find your name and you are good to go!

This week we are going to work on creating a poetry anthology. An anthology is a collection of poems either by the same author or a group of authors.
Each day you will pick a different type of poem to explore from the examples below. You can use any subject or theme for your poem that you choose. You might use something from your bubble, your favourite colour, your favourite food, a friend or family member, an experience you have had - the choose is yours!
Each of the poetry types below shows you how to put the poem together and gives you an example of what it looks like.

Think, Notice, Wonder
Think, notice, wonder is a technique to get you thinking, noticing and wondering about the maths that is all around us in everyday life.
Each day a different photo will be posted and you need to record what the image makes you think about, what you notice about the image and what it makes you wonder about. Try to switch your brain to think, notice and wonder about the maths that is connected to the image. Here is an example;

ANZAC Celebrations
This year people in New Zealand won't be able to attend ANZAC services like they normally do. We will need to celebrate in our bubbles instead. One idea that people have talked about is standing at the end of your driveway at 6am (when the dawn service would normally start)
You could make an ANZAC wreath to hang on your fence or letterbox (this is what that egg carton was for!) There are some easy to follow instructions on Crafty Morning's blog.
Or you could make an ANZAC poppy.

Or design a medal to be awarded to an ANZAC soldier.
