Secret Mission
S.O.D.A. - Start Of the Day Activity
Daily 5 (Literacy - Reading, Writing and Spelling)
PM Books - I have created accounts for each of you through PM Books and there are sessions set up for you. Your log in details have been sent to your email address so click here and log in. Your reading session will be at the top of the library. You get to your group books by clicking on the image at the top of the book shelf (like the image below). Choose one book to read - you can turn your microphone on and record yourself reading too. It does look like they are books for younger children, there are those but there are books for you too (that's why they are in a group at the top of the library).
OR
Check out some news stories on Kea Kids News or Kiwi Kids News. Make sure you read something from each section (not just Odd Stuff!)

Reading to a Buddy
Read to someone in your family. Remember, it doesn't need to be a book - you might be helping in the kitchen by reading the recipe to someone as they cook/bake or you might be reading the instructions of how to make something. Sometimes instructions don't have words and you need to 'read' the pictures - that's a great skill to practice too! |
Listening to Reading
Listen to some texts on The Teacher's Library. |
Working with Words
Spelling - today's activity is Tracing. Use your ten list words
Typing Club - many of you have set goals around improving your typing skills. Typing Club is a great way to do this! Spend 10-15 minutes exploring how Typing Club works.
To log in you need to be using your school Google account (eg [email protected]) and click this Typing Club link. If you are not using your Google account you will be asked to enter it - this joins you to our class.

This week we are going to work on creating a poetry anthology. An anthology is a collection of poems either by the same author or a group of authors.
Each day you will pick a different type of poem to explore from the examples below. You can use any subject or theme for your poem that you choose. You might use something from your bubble, your favourite colour, your favourite food, a friend or family member, an experience you have had - the choose is yours!
Each of the poetry types below shows you how to put the poem together and gives you an example of what it looks like.

ANZAC Celebrations
This year people in New Zealand won't be able to attend ANZAC services like they normally do. We will need to celebrate in our bubbles instead. One idea that people have talked about is standing at the end of your driveway at 6am (when the dawn service would normally start).
You could make an ANZAC wreath to hang on your fence or letterbox (this is what that egg carton was for!) There are some easy to follow instructions on Crafty Morning's blog. Or you could make an ANZAC poppy. |
Or design a medal to be awarded to an ANZAC soldier.
Make some ANZAC biscuits.
